Camping in a Beach Tent – Fun for the Whole Family!
Ah, summertime; and if you happen to be lucky enough to live fairly close to the sea, or at least are planning for a camping vacation on either the Western or Eastern shoreline, one of the most fun ways to o it is by utilizing a large tent. Why is this recommend, you might ask, and the answer is immediate: families have more fun together, when they share a tent. It goes back to the old days, when mostly nomadic tribes lived together as families in tent-like structures. Today’s modern day, family-size tent is very similar to the tepee, the hut or other such nomadic structures that families have traditionally lived in, over the years.
The family-sized variety of camping in a beach tent today offers many luxuries. If you will be camping on or nearby a beach, chances are you will experience a lot of wind. The wind-resistant materials that compose today’s tents, along with a solid construction design by use of ropes and stakes, make for not only comfortable beach living quarters, but also protects the inhabitants from harmful sun rays, something that many people do not wish to experience, most assuredly. Camping can be so fun, and a nearby campfire can provide extra warmth throughout the night, thus making the atmosphere not only fun, but cozy too.
Typically, it’s not advisable to camp right on the shore line. This is largely due to the potential for high tide, but also for incoming storms. Most people who camp in tents on or nearby the beach make sure to do so well up from where the high tide’s topmost part hits. Normally, sand dunes are a perfect location, unless there is vegetation that does not allow for a larger tent to be constructed in the area. Some State beaches have actual and specific camping sites to choose from, which makes it not only easier to set up camp, but also might protect you and your family from the ravages of sun and wind, not to mention there are normally barbeque pits or places to set up for cooking, within the confines of your chosen campsite.
Another plus of camping in a large tent, as opposed to a recreational vehicle, is that it is set up and taken down, literally, within minutes – especially if you have a pop up beach tent. Some beach tents have tops that go over them to provide even more protection from wind and sun, not to mention a bit of insulation. As well, you never know when it might rain, and of course this is easily taken care of with the extra top most part. Alternatively, you can remove these tops and see a beautiful, starry night if one is available. Or, if you’re feeling a little more adventurous, try a beach canopy tent. These provide little cover, but are fantastic to sleep under on a cool summer evening. There is nothing like camping under the stars, but within the safe confines of a tent.
Anyway you look at it, camping on or nearby a beach in a nice, big tent with your family can make for many lasting memories and provide for years of fun, regaling others with your tales of nomadic life by the beach.
